Why the gap exists
- Receiving queue. PSA can take 2-4 weeks to even check your package in. The clock starts at check-in, not arrival.
- QA. The last 1-2 weeks of any order are quality control and shipping.
- Volume spikes. Q4 (Topps Chrome, NBA Hoops, Pokemon set drops) routinely doubles real turnaround.
How to get cards back faster (without paying Express)
- Submit in summer. June-August is the quietest window — Value tier often returns in 8 weeks instead of 16.
- Use Value Max instead of Value Plus. The $15 upgrade often saves 4-5 weeks.
- Go through an authorized dealer. Bulk submitters like our grading service get priority check-in and can shave weeks off receiving time.
- Submit one tier per order. Mixed-tier orders are often held until the slowest tier finishes.

PSA's status page is reliable. Stages are: Order Received → Order Prep → Research & ID → Grading → Assembly → Quality Assurance → Shipped. Most orders sit longest in "Grading" — that's normal.
