About Mewtwo Cards
Mewtwo is the original chase legendary, and unlike most of the 151 it has stayed commercially relevant across every era: the EX-era holos, the XY Evolutions reprint, the full-art GX runs, and the modern illustration rares all trade actively.
The printing collectors ask for most often is the XY Evolutions holo with the cracked-ice foil pattern, because that pattern scratches under the slightest handling and caps a large share of submissions below gem. It is the clearest example in Pokémon of a card whose grade, not its rarity, sets the price.
Older EX-era Mewtwo cards are the opposite case: low surviving graded populations, but wide price spreads between grades because so few high-grade copies come to market at once. Check the card number and set on the label — several Mewtwo printings share nearly identical artwork.

- Why is the cracked-ice Mewtwo harder to find in high grades?
- The cracked-ice foil used on that printing shows scratching and print lines under normal handling, so a large share of submissions grade below gem mint. Populations at PSA 10 stay small relative to how many copies were opened.
- How do I verify the card before buying?
- Every slab is sold in its original untampered holder with the certification number visible in the listing photos. Enter that number into the grader's public cert lookup and it returns the card, set, year, and grade on file.
