Pokémon grading FAQ
How much does it cost to grade Pokémon cards?
PSA grading for Pokémon cards starts at $27.99 per card in our Value Bulk tier (20+ cards). Most modern Pokémon submissions use PSA Value ($35.99, ~75 business days) or CGC Value ($18, 20-35 days). Premium chase cards like Prismatic Evolutions alt arts often justify PSA Express ($159) so they hit the market in 15 business days.
PSA or CGC for Pokémon cards?
PSA still carries the resale premium on English Pokémon — a PSA 10 Charizard sells for 20-40% more than a CGC 10. CGC wins on price and speed for modern bulk grading, Japanese-only sets, and sealed product. Use PSA for high-end English chase cards; CGC for everything else.
Which Pokémon cards are worth grading right now?
Prismatic Evolutions alt arts (Umbreon, Sylveon, Ceruledge EX), 151 master ball reverses, Surging Sparks Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare, Twilight Masquerade Ogerpon ex SIRs, plus any English Black Star Promo Charizard. Vintage WOTC holos still top the chart — Base Set, Jungle, Fossil 1st Editions.
How do I pre-screen Pokémon cards before grading?
Check four things under bright direct light: centering (front + back, aim for 55/45 or better), surface scratches on the holo pattern, edge whitening, and print lines through the holo. Modern Pokémon is brutal on surface — any visible scratch knocks a PSA 10 to a PSA 9 and slashes the sale price in half.
How long does PSA take to grade Pokémon cards in 2026?
PSA Value: ~75 business days. PSA Value Plus: ~45 business days. PSA Regular: ~25 business days. PSA Express: ~15 business days. Bulk submissions via BlackJadedWolf ship every Friday so your cards skip the membership queue and hit PSA's grader faster than going direct.
Can I drop off Pokémon cards in NYC for grading?
Yes. BlackJadedWolf accepts drop-off submissions at our Sayville, NY location (Long Island) and at every NYC card show we attend. We also offer fully insured mail-in service from anywhere in the US.
